Dassault Aviation deal for the outsourcing of engineering services with India's Tata Technologies

French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation said on Monday it had signed a deal for the outsourcing of engineering services with India's Tata Technologies, the parent of engineering services company INCAT.

The agreement will see INCAT provide Dassault with engineering services in several "critical domains" linked to the Indian Air Force's medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) programme, for which six manufacturers are competing. Dassault is offering its Rafale combat aircraft.Dassault said in a statement the MMRCA programme contains significant offset requirements -- a proportion of work linked to the contract must be given to Indian companies.

HAL is preparing a roadmap for implementation of its "dream project"

Aerospace and defence manufacturing giant Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is preparing a roadmap for implementation of its "dream project" to produce the country's first indigenously developed civilian passenger aircraft. The project is in the planning stage and a final roadmap is being prepared so that work on it could be started soon, a top official in the state-run company told PTI.

"It has been conceived as a dream project of HAL and we are in the process of finalizing the finer details," he said. The project is considered to be a major leap in India's civil aviation sector and its successful completion would put the Bangalore-based PSU in the league of some of the leading global players.
The official said Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will be involved in the ambitious project."The CSIR and DRDO will also play an active role in the project," he said.
He said HAL may seek foreign cooperation in certain areas to develop the new 70 to 100 seater aircraft but insisted that it will be a purely indigenous product.
Asked whether HAL was seeking help from Canada's Bombardier or Brazil's Embraer, he said it was too early to comment on it.
"It is too premature to comment on it. But definitely we may seek cooperation from global players in certain areas," he said. The official said HAL may also involve renowned design houses from abroad to design the aircraft. PTI

Avalon Technologies sets up new facility to cater needs in aerospace and aviation sector

The new facility of Avalon Technologies, an electronic contract manufacturer providing end-to-end solutions to global OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), at Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) is all set to go commercial.

The Arumbakkam unit, he said, would cater to the hi-tech manufacturing needs in the aerospace and aviation fields. Company officials said that the unit would also help its multinational clients who had bid for the Indian Defence projects to meet the `offset clause’ (which primarily requires a set minimum sourcing from the domestic market).

Key facts related to Hero groups foray into aerospace arena.

I have already talked about this news and the buzz in Indian aerospace is all about this. So I posting some key facts related to Hero groups foray into aerospace arena.

  • Hero Motor's subsidiary Hero Aviation is spearheading the move into the aerospace business
  • If the project takes off, it will be India's first production facility for light aircraft.
  • The company could begin work on the facility in the first half of 2009
  • Hero Aviation hopes to set up the facility at the company's proposed 120Ha (300 acre) aerospace park in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Hero group is spending Rs 500 crores in this venture

According to Hero website

Hero Aviation has been formed with following founding principles:

  1. Manufacturing of Two Seat/ Four Seat Aircrafts with Design,Technology and manufacturing alliance with World major LSA/ small aircraft manufacturer for export and domestic use

Feel Good week for Indian Aerospace Industry

What a week it has been for indian aerospace industry. This week can be termed as feel-good week for indian aerospace or to be more general engineering industry of India.

I would like to begin with a quote by Subu Subramanian, Satyam director and senior vice-president of the manufacturing and automotive solutions business unit.

“What the industry went through with information technology in terms of outsourcing 20 years ago, engineering is going through today,"

See how the industry is beaming and what it will mean for all the engineering professional and going by the news at this blog, most of the engineering related work is in aerospace domain. With MMRCA running in the sideline and the offset clause perceived to help indian industry, this is the profession that will be the HOT!!

And we are now no more a collie any more in outsourcing arena, most of the engineering service industry that includes aerospace is moving up for providing value along with the cost factor. Read How Indian Engineering Services Business is Growing to get an idea!!

Another quote worth noting is the one by our defense minister delivered this week
"The emerging service requirements, the economic environment and government policies have created a great opportunity for the industry. and If we succeed in establishing a firm foundation today, our aerospace capability would jump a generation ahead.”

Talking of Engineering service exporters of indian, find out which are the top engineering service companies that an aerospace engineer should look out for.

Well if have gone through the top 15 engineering exporters of India, you will not find this groups name in it but this group which i am sure every indian is familiar with is also jumping into the aerospace arena. The hero group with a tie up with a German company is entering the aerospace arena by making small aircraft for personal use and training.

So you see this are the top indian aerospace news of the. Keep visiting the indianaeronews blog for daily updates on what's happening in indian aerospace arena.
